Transition Time

We are in transition stages of moving. We are staying in the Oklahoma City area, but God is calling us to Lease out our house, and live like no one else... so we CAN live like no one else one day. With medical bills, and School debt, we need to make major sacrifices around here for a year and pay off debt and build up a legacy for our children. God has provided an amazing blessing, in the form of a (tiny) rent house (on 5 acres) out in a small town, just outside the Metro. (notice in the photo below... everything is packed up except the Scentsy warmer. Ha!)

We move on the 1st, and Tobin starts Pre-K the next week. I'm sure I'll be MIA around the blogosphere for a little while. Keep us in your prayers. Caroline went to sleep with 3 pacifier's tonight. She is so confused, and needs soothing, apparently. Tobin has been more emotional than I have ever seen him, this past week. They will adjust, eventually. When the move is over and we are somewhat settled, I'll tell the amazing story of this whole situation. God is truly performing miracles. All we are doing is obeying.

With the CRAZY HOT temps in OK, we are just trying to stay cool. Have a great last couple weeks of Summer! I'm ready for FALL!!!

It's gettin' HOT in HERE!

Summer is keepin us super busy! We have been in the car a lot, going to Frontie! On the few days that we ARE home, we like to play board games and watch movies :)

It has been over 100 degrees here for days and days and days. You think I'm exhagerating? I AM NOT! Today,it was 109, at 7:30 pm! CRAZY HOT! So, if we are outside, we are IN THE WATER! We have been spending at least one day a week at White Water Bay (a water park here in the Metro area). We have season passes, and are getting our money's worth!

Tobin is growing up, right before my eyes. I cannot believe he will be starting Pre-K soon! Caroline is still our princess, but oh ... so ... much... drama! She is sweet, but sassy. Oh my, we are in TROUBLE when she become a teenager, I can feel it!

(yes, that is chinese food boxes. Our church is serving popcorn in them for At The Movies this year, it is Kung Fu Panda themed lobby. Another reason we have been super busy)

We spent the 4th of July in the Heat, inviting people to church. It was one of the best "4th's" we have had as a family! We all wore matching green t-shirts, yes I said GREEN. We stood out, that's for sure! We LOVE our church, and it just opened a new kids wing this weekend! Another reason we have been somewhat busy lately. The kids wore their patriotic stuff the whole week before July 4th, since we weren't going to wear it on the day, itself :)

The t-shirts were only in adult sizes, so I made caroline a dress, and Tobin a shirt in his size. They were a hit!

My health has been better. My Thyroid is very disfuncitonal and my hormones are all very low. They are trying to figure out why I am still not normal. Prayers for continued healing on my body are greatly appreciated... as are prayers for Tony- he is the one that has to put up with my moodiness ;) Regardless of the heat, and health issues, medical bills, etc...we are counting our blessings! I made it to 29 this year(a week ago, to be exact)! Tony and I lost a bunch of weight this year, and I battled another rare disease. We are so thankful for God's blessings and provision for our family. So, I will leave you with this song that my mom used to sing to me as a little girl. I have been teaching it to our kiddos. Have a super weekend, and a fabulous week ahead!

My Mini-Me

This photo is me, when i was 2, maybe? This is Caroline. (yes, I know I never posted Easter pics... but it's not the 4th of July yet, people. I've got plenty of time, right? Sheesh!)

I cannot tell you how much my sweet Caroline is like me. She has an attitude like me. She loves being girlie(just like me). She is so kind hearted and sweet, but sensitive and moody at the same time (also like me, I guess). She loves babies (who doesn't!?). She is beautiful (well, hello!). okay, you get the point... she is a lot like me. I've said before I wanted to be a mommy. Have I ever said how blessed I am to be a mommy!? I do not deserve Caroline's sweet cuddles and kisses and "i wuv you too"'s. I do however deserve her fits and meltdowns. Why, you ask? Well, I also gave my mother fits and meltdowns. I mean, seriously ... I've given Tony (my wonderful husband) fits and meltdowns. My dad once said, "Rachel is the best girl in the world 80% of the time". I have to say that is also the case with our sweet Caroline. Hopefully I'll master that 20% (soon) and can then show her how to do the same. I can't believe I get the privilege to help shape a cute, moody little girl into a beautiful, Godly woman... with the Lord's help, of course... and Tony's too!

He made me a Mommy

This week I can't help but think about becoming a Mommy for the first time. I grew up dreaming about being pregnant, and having a baby, and being a wife and mommy. I feel so blessed to have my sweet Tobin. Only God knew he would come so soon (less than 2 years into marriage), and only God knew what a blessing he would be to us!

Tobin, in the Hebrew language, means "God is good". Oh, how good God was to us to give us our sweet Tobin boy. He is so smart, he blows me away sometimes. His memory is ridiculous! The kid can remember things that even I can't remember. It seriously amazes me- the things he remembers. He is so sweet and kind and loving towards his friends and family. Last night at church, Caroline was throwing a HUGE fit! I mean, a stomping her feat waving her arms fit. I said, "Come on Tobin, let's leave her alone". He immediately burst into tears as if I meant we were actually going to leave her at church. ugh... No, not ever. He is so protective of Caroline. He always makes sure she has her snack or juice or sticker before he does. He helps her on and off he trampoline, and in and out of the car. He really does take good care of her!

Tobin Loves Jesus! He never ever lets us eat food or go to bed, or take a road trip without praying. He always prays when he hears sirens down the street. The other night at bedtime prayer he said, "Lord, please help me ask you into my heart one day so I can get baptised for mommy and daddy" Sheesh, talk about the water works! Lately with my health issues he always prays that God will "heal mommy". He seriously believes God can do anything! I'm so thankful for that!

I guess I could go on and on with how great he is. I'm sure all you "Mommies" out there thing your child is the best child. But seriously, I can't imagine what my life would be like now without Tobin, my sweet Tobin, the gift that made me a mommy.

Thank you, Lord for using Tobin to make me a Mommy! I am so undeservedly blessed!

So happy to be home from the hospital AGAIN! I was in the hospital another 4 days. They removed a polyp from my colon, and took several biopsy's for testing. As we wait for answers from tests and scans, and blood work, and biopsy's, I am thankful to be home with my family. We are so, undeservingly, blessed!

Hospital Vaca...

Last Monday night about 10pm I felt a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. By Tuesday night at Midnight, I was in the ER waiting to see a Doctor. I KNEW something was wrong. Worst. pain. ever. And, I HAVE had babies people! At 4:00am, they admitted me to the hospital. They said I had diverticulitis and micro perforations in my bowel. Long story short = They thought I would have to have surgery, and GOD HEALED ME without it! Not only did he heal me from this, I did NOT have an ITP Relapse, the number one risk for my body fighting infections. PRAISE GOD! I got to come home Saturday night. Oh, how blessed I am to be with my family. I am not in anymore pain, but am very weak and tired, as my body is still fighting infection. Please be in prayer with us as we pray for continued and complete healing from HIM! Here are some photos of my 4 day EXPENSIVE Vacation in the Hospital.

As I sit here, we are under a "Blizzard Warning". NO LIE! Crazy, isn't it!? We will get anywhere from 6-18 inches of snow. All the schools and government agencies have cancelled for tomorow and we have just seen the first snowflake. Hhmmm... I am getting excited about a lazy day at home tomorrow with my sweet family. So, We bought this OshKosh chair for Tobin at a yard sale, before he could walk. It was in pretty good shape when we bought it used. We have moved several times, and it's been in and out of the garage, on the porch, around the house... I admit. It's pretty disgusting. Lately, it's been in the garage a while. I had every intention of cleaning the upholstery. Well, I went out to get it yesterday to clean it up and our pet rats (not really, in fact they will hopefully be dead in the next couple days) used it as a chew toy. I didn't take close up pics but they ate at the seat part, and at the back. Needless to say, it needed a slip cover.

I have never made a slipcover before. I was surprised that it only took about 2 hours and it was done! I'm not good on tutorials, so here's a "kinda" stage by stage look at how I did it.

Snow Day... Kinda

A couple weeks ago, we got some snow... kinda. It was snowing big 'ole flakes. I knew it wasn't going to stay long ( I had been watching the weather ), so I told the kids we should go out and play! Tobin was so excited that it was all I could do to get him to put socks on! Caroline wasn't sure what to think. She was too little last year to "play" in any snow, and was afraid to step off the porch into it...

She wasn't quite sure what to think at first...

He was wanting to sled, and there wasn't enough yet... especially when he discovered the snow melted when he walked through it.
This face he is making is a face his daddy makes. So funny!

She kept yelling, "Tobin, catch em! Bubba, catch em!" She was hypnotized!

Why are slippery sidewalks so fun to play on?

She was so delighted when she realized it wasn't anything to be scared of, and had so much fun running through the snowflakes!

OOpps, took a tumble and caught herself, then she was mad because her hands were cold. No one listens to mommy when she says, "you better wear some gloves" Ha! She was still Joyful.

It was all melted by the time they woke up from their naps this day. I am still crossing my fingers that we get a big "fun" snow this winter, before spring comes. It is so blasted cold and windy here, it might as well snow, right?

We Are Alive!

I'm sitting here overwhelmed with thoughts thinking... "How will I ever catch up? Where do I start? and Do people even care about my blog?" I haven't written a post since before Thanksgiving. I have many many photos I could upload, lots of cute stories I could tell, and a series of "healthy" blogs I intend on writing.

Right now, I just want to let everyone know that we are alive and doing wonderfully! If you are reading this, do you care? Ha! Seriously, I'm just curious if any of you actually read my posts. I do this mostly for relatives out of state, and know I need to do better. Life gets busy, I know that! We have been so busy, it is really crazy to think about everything that has happened in the non-blogging last three months. I will post photos later this week. I hope to do better, and could fill a post full of ramblings of why I haven't updated in a while. Who cares, right?

Just to let you all know we are not MIA any more, and not sure if I will play "catch up" for a little while, or just start blogging again.... or a little of both ;)

Some of these photos truly capture in just one second, in what our whole life seems to be all about. This weekend, as we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday we look back on the last year. We thank the Lord above, and all his goodness. We are thankful for my ITP remission. We are all around thankful for being healthy and happy and blessed. Down 50 and 76

You may have noticed I've changed the photo on the blog. The reason being that we have taken on a new form. You see, Tony has lost 76 pounds, and I have lost 50! Next week we have a family photo session scheduled, so until then, the pic of the kids will have to do as the header.

I have been MIA for a while for good reason. Fall is always a busy season for our family. BIG SWITCH occurs in the Fall (our big 3 week youth event), and this year we added a new way of life. We are getting healthy, once. and. for. all. We will never go back. We have photos to remember the unhealthy life we led. The addiction to food is gone for good. We got rid of 14 garbage bags full of "fat" clothes. I am writing this post to give all my readers a sort of "heads up". When the new photos are posted, you may not recognize us. Most days we don't recognize ourselves. We are so excited about teaching our children, and leaving them a legacy of health.

Another thing we added this fall is my new Scentsy business. It has kept me even busier that before, but it is so much fun! It is going great. God is blessing us so much through Scentsy, and I can't wait to see where our lives will be this time next year. I have been going to a women's bible study at a local church every Monday morning. I signed up in support of a friend, and have received so much out of it. It has given me the boost in my spiritual life that I needed in this season. I am so grateful for the women that God has placed in my life!

We are so excited about our new journey. Our marriage is stronger than it has ever been. Our kids are growing and learning new things every day. We are learning so many things through this diet/lifestyle change that we never thought possible. Before and after pics will come when we go to the maintain part of our diet. I'll post more on how we lost the weight later.

Keep us in your prayers! I'll try not to be so "lost in cyberspace" the next couple months. Family pics to come soon!

Feelin' like Fall

That's right! It's finally Fall, and wouldn't you know it actually felt like Fall outside today! So, as tradition would have it in our house, the pumpkins and leaves come out! It's starting to FEEL like FALL around here!

This morning we went across the street to a nursery that got a fresh batch of pumpkins! Tobin got to pick two out. He picked the interesting weird ones. I kinda like them!

This one below is called a Turban pumpkin.

A centerpiece for the dining room table. I am working on a project so until then, mason jars and natural elements like leaves and acorns will have to do!

Jane Fonda's Baby Workout Wednesday

This shirt was mine when I was a "baby". Caroline has worn it lots. It has a couple stains, but she loves it- so what's the harm around the house, right?! She always says, "BABY HERE!" This morning I put it on, and it's way too small. I put it on anyway, just for kicks... and to get some photos of her in it! Have a happy Wednesday!

SUPERHERO PARTY 2010

BEWARE: This is like THE MOST PHOTOS i HAVE UPLOADED, ever!!! Tobin turned 4 on Saturday and we went all out with a Superhero party. I don't think I got any sleep the whole week before but, we all survived and had a fabulous time! It was well worth all the effort! Okay, here we go!

Each child (16 in total)received a cape (with their initial), mask, and arm cuffs when they walked in the front door.

The cake...OH, the cake... I decided to make it again this year. It was the most time-consuming one I have done. All homemade cake, buttercream, and fondant. My mother came down the night before the party and I wouldn't have been able to get everything done without her! She also did the piping on the cake for the spider webs and the edges:)

Our superhero Clothesline was hung on the front porch for the guests to see as they drove up.

... as well as a party sign and balloons. We wanted to make sure everyone found it okay :)

The photo above next to the cake is of my mother and I at my brother's superhero party in 1984. The napkins and plates before are true vintage... from the same party :)

A package was delivered for Tobin right before the guests arrived , from Grammy :)

OH, and if you were wondering, Yes... I made the capes, etc. Each child had a different color and their own initial on the back.

They were all pretty excited about the party, especially with their personalized superhero gear.

The party wouldn't be complete without the Jump House aka Superhero Training house :)

My mother painted the Batman and Robin (Tobin) sign. The kids and adults got a kick out of it! Mom, you're the greatest!

It was very HOT and very WINDY!

There were lots of snacks including batman and spiderman snacks, popcorn, and PB&J Oatmeal cookies.

And again, my mother painted a "Pin The Mask On The Super Boy" Game. The kids LOVED it! Not too many photos of this, because I was running the game, the rest of the party, and taking photos. I was supermommy that day, I guess :)

I made ribbon/felt banners for outside to hang on the back fence and the tent covering the porch. They added the perfect party touch, and we will use them for other parties, too!

I bought fabric (used to make baseball jersey's) really cheap. 10 bucks for the whole bolt! I cut it and used it for table clothes, and still have a lot left on the bolt. Any ideas on what to use it for? We had to tie down the table clothes with twine because it was so windy!

By the time this photo was taken, all the ice had melted, but we went through a lot of ice, a lot of drinks, and a lot of sweat. It was HOT!

I was running frantic this morning from store to store. I had to get supplies for some blankets I'm making for some special babies that are arriving soon. I had both kids with me. Tobin was on his best behavior most of the morning. As noon was approaching it was getting hot outside. Caroline was tired of sitting in carts and Tobin was getting tired of following me around. I ran by Sonic to get some drinks to tag along with us before our final stop of the day. I got my usual Vanilla Diet Dr. Pepper and Tobin had a Diet sprite with orange. We were in a popular fabric and craft store (which I won't name) in a long line. We were about third in line, and there was a woman in line behind me. I had just handed out animal crackers to my kids to subdue them while we stood there in line. I grabbed my diet Dr. Pepper and took a big drink (As I silently prayed to God above to make my kids behave until we got out of this store)and shot a smile to the cashier. ( I secretly hoped she would get a HUGE hint that my kids were at their limit and she needed to hurry)

Out of nowhere am man (older than me, probably in his late 30's/early 40's) swiftly walked by us. He said loudly so everyone could hear, "Hope that's a diet coke!"

He kept walking, but turned his head around and smiled at me and laughed.
My mouth dropped and eyebrows turned. But, I stood there speechless. I looked around to see if anyone else saw that, or if it was a figment of my imagination. The lady behind me had a grimace on her face and shook her head. It was clear I wasn't the only one who had heard.

I was embarrassed.
I wanted to laugh.
I wanted to cry.
I was praying Tobin didn't understand what the man said.
I stood there in disbelief.

I think Tobin could have broken a vase right then and there, and I wouldn't have even noticed because I was in la la land until we got to the car... where I broke down and laughed out loud while a few tears ran down my cheek.

What is wrong with the human race? Is this poor man so miserable that he has to point out other's imperfections to make himself feel better? If I was thinking I should have said, "At least I can loose weight, you will always be ugly!"

What would that have taught my children?

My weight has fluctuated my whole life. Last year, Tony and I worked hard and lost weight. I got down below my pre-pregnancy weight. Then the stress of our year hit hard. Seven months of steroids wears on me every day. I gained over 40 pounds. I am finally at a place in my life where I'm happy with who I am in Christ, no matter what I look like. I am actually a joyful person most of the time. I don't work out daily like I should, but I don't indulge in high calorie foods and sweets every day. It's not like I weigh 400 pounds!

It's amazing how fast one's self esteem can be shot down. I am still taking this all in. But, I guarantee a weight loss plan is on the horizon folks! I'll let you know in the next few days how I feel about what happened today.... after it has soaked in a little bit.

... A whole weekend full! I mean, who doesn't love fireworks on the weekend of their birthday? Here's my birthday in photos, because after this week, I'm too tired to be writing words right now :) Enjoy!

The day started off with me sleeping in! That's what I always ask for. Oh, to sleep until I wake up... Sorry, just re-living the moment for a second. I slept till 10... but who's counting?

This first photo Tobin took. I think I was blinking, but I thought it was too precious not to post.

He didn't want to smile for the camera. He was mad it wasn't his birthday. Figures!

Then we goofed off a bit...

... and headed to lunch. It was my weekend *ahem* day, and I got to choose where to go. I wanted chips and salsa, so we went to Chili's for lunch.

This is what a 3 year old does while he waits for his food :) Yes, that's two straws and a fork.

I had my cake, folks... and I didn't have to make it myself this year! If you go to Chili's for your birthday, they give you a free dessert. I chose the molten chocolate cake. YUMMO!

Friday night my hubby and I went on a date to see Eclipse in the IMAX. It was great! Thanks Lulu for babysitting! (and not letting us pay you, too! We love you!)

Saturday night, after church- we went out to dinner at Ted's. The BEST Mexican restaurant in the OKC Metro! So great! (yes, that's a plate of butter that he stacked up and knocked over about 30 times before his food came)

It was a fabulous Celebration of my 28th year beginning. Thank you for all the sweet cards and gifts and facebook messages. I was overwhelmed with feelings of joy at how much I am loved!
I was so blessed to get to spend another birthday with the ones I love!

It's A Celebration

When I was younger, I LOVED birthdays!

I loved everything about them... the presents, the cake,...get-together's with friends and family,

...and I supposed I even loved getting a little older each year. After 21, it's kind of gone down hill for me. I'm not really sure why except that every year I get down in the dumps about what I haven't accomplished. I don't really know why. I guess it's different when you have to make your own birthday cake.

This year is going to be different! This year I'm celebrating a life that I almost lost. I'm not sure if you know how serious my ITP diagnosis in October was. The fact that I walked out of that hospital at all is a true miracle. The fact that I'm in remission now with now daily treatment is another miracle in itself. I'm not sure why God gave me a second chance but this birthday is going to be filled with CELEBRATING!!! I'm going to make Tony get me a cake. I'm going to demand a song to be sung. I'm going to actually spend my birthday money on ME this year. And, I"m going to be happy on my special day!

This year is going to be different too! A year of purpose and excitement for the unknown. A year full of laughter and giggles with my sweet husband. And lots of snuggles with my babies.

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY TO ME... tomorrow!

Thank you, Lord for blessing me with this year! I am truly thankful!

A New Season

Our life has been crazy the last couple months. We have had 3 trips to Arkansas (which I will document with photos at the end of this post). Caroline started walking (finally), and Tony has taken a new position at Lifechurch.tv. He has been the Youth Pastor for the NW OKC campus for almost 3 years. We are now entering our 3rd week as official team members of the Edmond Campus of Lifechurch.tv. We are thrilled about this new journey, and excited to see how God is going to use us at this new campus. This week starts the "At The Movies" Series at Lifechurch.tv and God does amazing things through this series every year! I'll update you all as we move along in the process of Decorating the Edmond campus like a famous animated movie! (more on that later)

With two kids running around, driving a different direction across town, season passes to Frontier City and White water, new responsibilities, and the craziness of Summer... We enter a new Season in our life. One of change, excitement, and moving forward with the new blessings God is going to do in (and through) our family. Cushions and Pillows

We received our free porch furniture a couple years ago after a spring Tornado that came through our neighborhood. A family said we could have them(there was insulation and debris everywhere and I'm sure they just didn't want to deal with it). Tony power washed the furniture and we sprayed the chairs with a coat of Brown paint(they need a new coat of paint- that's in the soon to-do list). I have been meaning to make cushions, but crazy life happened along the way. I have been collecting material and Foam when it's been on sale at Hobby Lobby. I finished up the project today, and am pretty pleased with the results. What do you think?
The pillows are reversible with Paisley material on one side and a gold fabric on the other side. I have had the gold fabric for a while. The Paisley material I got 30% off at Hobby Lobby. My wonderful husband cut the squares for the pillows and stuffed them once I had them sewed. What a time-saver! LOVE him!

I got the foam for the couch cushions 30% off at Hobby Lobby too! I used 4x22x22in. foam squares. Two for the back, two for the seat. The striped material was in the clearance section at Hobby Lobby. It was a steal! One side of the cushions has Velcro so I can remove the fabric to wash if/when needed.

Yes, I know.... the chairs need a NEW coat of brown paint. On my new honey-do list :)

Tobin has been really cracking me up lately with the things he says and does. Well.... actually, he has always made me laugh! He's so smart and quirky! I love watching him learn and play. Today I did what I do often and played fruit basket turnover with the photos, mirrors, etc. on the walls. We've lived here almost 3 years and I get bored and like to mix it up. I'm rambling... Anyway, I moved a mirror into the front entryway and I saw him making faces in it. He had pushed his Thomas over there and had to stand on it to see himself. Have I mentioned Tobin loves mirrors? Those who are close to us know this fact. He has always loved looking at his reflection!

He caught me and gave me a grin!

Speaking of Imagination....

Little Miss Sassy loves playing mommy! She is always lugging around a baby doll, sometimes the baby crib goes with her around the house. She holds the baby on her shoulder and rocks back and forth and sings. She has quite a personality herself! And, don't get me started on the cleaning. If you give her a baby wipe or napkin she will wipe the table, toy, or what/whoever is in front of her! Tonight she pushed around (while she crawled) our dust broom for quite a while! I LOVE her too! Trip to the Zoo

Our sweet girl loves the stacking blocks! I took pics this week while she was playing. Of course, Tobin likes to play with them too... but only when she's playing with them first! He never plays with the stacking blocks until she does, how does that always happen? Actually, they play together fairly well, most of the time.

Spring in Fast Forward...

The last month has been super busy around here. We have had a lot going on, plus some health issues like viruses and allergy attacks- not to mention a holiday weekend! So, here is an overview of the last month of Spring.

Spring snow.... yes, we had a "spring" snow in March. Tobin loved it! It only stuck around for about a day. Tony and Tobin did their best to play as much as they could! You can see how many inches we got by looking at our little tykes picnic table in the back yard.

Before this snow, I only thought flowers popping through snow happened in the movies. Apparently not!

Tony and Tobin have been reading super hero books a lot lately. Tobin is really into superheros. Especially Batman and Superman!

We got a "free" candy with our movie the other day at the rental place. Tobin picked out "Mater Teeth". If you don't know who Mater, from the movie Cars is, then you won't get this. If you do- you might think this is hilarious! Instead of a ring pop, it had teeth! So funny!

Tobin is 100% potty trained now! We are so proud of him. No accidents, even at night time! To be honest, I never thought this day would come. We took him to Toys-R-Us (with a gift card and coupon) and told him he could pick any toy he wanted. He picked a Batman castle. I need to take some photos of him playing with it. Along with the castle, of course, they make all kinds of extras (that you have to buy) with it. He has been saving up his money for a long time and he bought a Green Lantern to go with his Batman toys last week. He was so proud of himself! Green Lantern is Batman's friend. He came with a green Jet and it even shoots darts OH BOY! (sense the sarcasm)

Little Miss has been learning what words mean lately. She found this bowl of peppermints in Tony's office this week. She got closer ...

... then mean o' momma said "no ma'am!" This was her reaction...

Tobin is getting to be such a grown up, handsome boy...

... who is very independent and protective of his things. Caroline hates this Dinosaur- it roars and lights up. So, to protect her from going in his room and playing with his things this is what he did...

Yes, he put the dinosaur right in front of his door! What a smarty pants!

Caroline is going through a picky eating faze. Between baby food and real food. Some days, she doesn't eat much at all. However, she is growing so the Ped. said not to worry about it. She sure loves bananas, though! See the necklaces on her shoulder? She LOVES to be a girl and is so girly! She loves purses and shoes and jewelry. It's so funny!

One day, a couple weeks ago- Tobin told me "Sissy's awake!" When she wakes up from nap, he's always the first one in there! This day, by the time I got in there, they were sword fighting! I thought it was hilarious and grabbed my camera to snap a pic!

Saturday before Easter, we headed out to Choctaw for the annual Egg Hunt. It was Caroline's first time to "hunt" eggs (or put them in her basket when we handed them to her). Anyway, we had a great time! I think we all really enjoyed ourselves.

Rainy Day in ... Spring?

At least, I like to believe that Spring is finally here!

Yesterday, it was raining all. day. long. I caught Miss. Caroline staring out the back door. I don't think she has every really noticed the rain before.

About 2 hours later, I caught Tobin standing in the same position! So funny! This was not staged!

Yes, it was a dreary, depressing day. But today was soooooooo fantastic! Beautiful sunshine and cool wind. And look who peeked through the mulch to say hello?

Seat Belts and Camera Straps

We were blessed by this double jogging stroller. The straps rubbed on Caroline's neck and face (as she is so short). She was miserable! I found this post over at Make It and Love It. I tried it out and it was super duper easy! You can do some yourself, I know you can! So head on over to Make It and Love It and check out how to do it and style your stroller right up, while you add some comfort as well. I was pretty proud of how mine turned out!

My other sewing project this week included a slip cover for my camera strap. I was dreaming of getting one of these... *Shey*B slipcovers but in our friendly every day budget, I couldn't afford to splurge! So, I got my creative juices out and made up a pattern. I guess next time I make one, I need to take photos and tell YOU how to make YOUR own. Until then, hope on over to Shey's website and get your own. Yesterday we saw another glimpse of spring. We strapped the kiddos in the bike trailer and road a couple miles to the "big" park, as Tobin would like to say. He calls it "big" because there is a HUGE slide! I packed up a picnic and strapped on the new seat belt covers I made this week (so they would be more comfortable) and off we went...

They are both a little unsure of what is about to happen...

It was really windy, but we had a great time! What would a picnic be without Cheetos?

Then, off to the playground to run off some energy!

Caroline and I sat in the (dead and oh, so scratchy) grass and watched the guys play while we enjoyed some sunshine... finally!

Thermostat Art

I just read this post from the Nester. She is having trouble with a stubborn light switch that is in an awkward spot. I thought this post might help her get more creative with the switch instead of ignoring it. We'll see...

I get lots of comments about this wall when people come into my home. They don't usually notice it until they walk out of the bathroom and there in front of them is our thermostat- framed like a piece of art. Sometimes they like it, and sometimes they say, "doesn't that draw attention to it?" I say, "so what?" I mean, isn't the thermostat pretty important in a home? Everyone has one in their house. Why not frame it like a work of art? This started when we bought our first home in Texas. Our thermostat, again, was on a narrow wall(not enough room to hang anything else beside it, but maybe above or below and i just didn't like it). I had this great frame that was empty because when we moved, the mirror broke out of it. I know what you're thinking... bad luck. But, I wouldn't state it like that and I'm not superstitious. So, I kept the frame to use for something else, having no idea what to use it for. I have a problem like that. I keep things (even if I don't have an exact spot at the moment) and hide them away for a day when I'm feeling creative. When we moved into this house, i used the frame again... what for? To frame the thermostat. Now, I'm wondering if I should paint the wall inside the frame around the thermostat a different color like Red or Blue. What do you think? Should I glue a matte around it? Leave it? Totally do away with it? What are your thoughts?

(Tobin wanted in the photo too so, I thought I'd give you an idea of where the door started. It's the same distance on the other side to another door.)

When Baby's Sick, Aint' Nobody Happy!

Caroline is NOT feeling well at all. Poor baby... or should I say poor family? "Why" do you ask? Besides the fact that she wants nothing to do with food, has to be held most of the time and has a dirty outfit (due to a runny messy diaper) every couple of hours...

She has to have three Paci's in the hand and one in the mouth- at ALL times!
Don't even think about touching her silky blanket!

And if you even try to take one of her paci's away? You might as well lay down and die b/c you are about to witness the fit of the decade!

Despite all of this, we are all totally smitten by her presence. We are so blessed to have her in our life! Hope you enjoy your weekend. Praying for Health in our home!

The Flirt of Spring

Today was an amazing 58 degrees outside. The warm sunshine lit up our insides and put smiles on our faces. With all the snow and frigid temps this winter brought, we were so ready for some sunshine-- We are definitely ready for SPRING! I know, it's not here yet, but today seemed like it was flirting with us. We spent the day in Choctaw with Mimi and Mamaw!

Sick and Entertained...

If you are a mommy and you've ever had a sick child, you know it's hard to make him/her happy when they aren't feeling well. Thanks to some recent NEW things, my kids were happily entertained today while they had fevers.

Tobin's Valentine's gift from Mimi and Mamaw was a little cellophane envelope of beads. We put it in water and this is what happened (over the course of 6 hours- talk about entertaining!)

An hour later... they started looking fuzzy and grew a little bit bigger...

2 hours later, yet even more growing had occurred...

3 hours later, they started oozing to the top of the water...

After nap... Oh- to his surprise! Look how they had grown!

I told him to smile, this is the face he made. Poor baby had a fever all day!

Fruity cheerios and these new girly cars kept Miss. Caroline happy today! Thank you cousin Emily for the Cars!

Okay ladies, for those who asked, and those who are wondering... here's where I got my recipe's for the Buttercream frosting and Marshmallow fondant. I added color to my fondant after I had it made-that was the hardest part. If you are going to just use all one color, I suggest adding the food coloring in the 1st step, before you microwave it.

Birthday Party Fun

On Saturday we had a family party to celebrate the 1st year of Caroline's life. We had it blown out with pink everything...

... and even a homemade pink cake!

Caroline LOVES anything pink or purple, so that's what we did! My parents (nonny and papa) came over from Arkansas, Mimi (from Choctaw), and Uncle Carl and Candace from down the street. It was great having everyone together, and it all went by too fast! Here are some photos of the day to summarize the events.

I frosted the cake with homemade buttercream icing, dyed pink of course and made homemade marshmallow fondant to decorate the cake with flowers. It was my first experience and I was surprised at how easy and tasty it turned out!

I also used fondant for the "1" on top of the cake, and brushed pink glitter glaze on top to give it some sparkle.

The chair below was bought by my great grandfather years and years ago. My grandmother sent it over for Caroline's birthday. Isn't it precious!? She LOVES it, too!

Nonny made Caroline a tiara. She loved playing with it more than wearing it. (Thanks Kristina for making Caroline's shirt with pink letters!)

Caroline is such a girlie girl. She hasn't stopped carrying around her little purple purse and silver jewelry since the party!

The day was finished off by getting Caroline a new car seat- she out grew her old one. I bet you can guess what color it is!

I cannot believe our sweet girl is One today! Where does the time go? I remember a year ago I was wondering what it would be like to have a little girl. It has been so fun being a mommy to a girly girl who is all drama!

You have an attitude like me when you're hungry or mad, or just want your way.
You have your brother's expressions.
You are a Daddy's girl! You have him wrapped around your tiny little fingers, and he knows it.
You love snack time and wish all day could be snack time!
You can scoot around the floor like nobodies business!
You can pull up on anything and cruise around furniture(and we watch you balance by yourself without you realizing it) and know that any day, you are going to start walking!
You are completely spoiled by almost everyone who meets you.
You have heartbreaking blue eyes, that will break lots of boys hearts one day.
You are totally in love with your glow worm baby. You can't sleep without her!
Wherever your brother is, that's where you go. He is your hero!
You love to flirt with boys(men to be exact). We may be in trouble one day.
You can say "Bubba"(brother), "Momma", "Dada", "Papa", "NehNeh"(which means you want to eat something), "Neni" which means "pacifier".
You LOVE your Pacifier. I'm not sure how we are going to break you of this.
You are officially off the bottle and onto the sippy cup.
You are oh-so curious, all of the time.
We know you are so smart by the way you try to figure out everything around you.
You love to play in the pantry and pull silverware out of the dishwasher.
You watch me cook dinner every night from your highchair.
You love taking a bath with your brother.
You enjoy riding in the front of the shopping cart and looking at everything as we pass by. I'm afraid you will have a love for shopping!
Your favorite room of the house is Tobin's room, of course.

Snow sneak peak

Last week we were promised a winter storm. Everyone acted as if it was going to be an apocalypse. There hasn't been school for days and it has snowed many inches. There are plenty of snow photos and videos to be blogged about; however, we have all been under the weather. We made one trip to the ER with little Miss. Caroline for dehydration and are now still recovering from a nasty bug. There is still lots of snow on roads and school's and businesses are still closed. Caroline's birthday and party are this week, too... So, I'm not making any promises that I will update this blog much this week. Eventually, you will see what a fantastic time our Tobin boy had in the snow! Hope everyone's week is filled with hot chocolate, family time, and warm fuzzies. Say a prayer for us this week!

First Trip to the Play Place!

On Wednesday the kids and I went to the Play Place in the mall to escape the cold weather one last time before the ice storm came. The way the Weather men and people were talking (and shopping) that this Ice store was going to be the apocalypse.... So, we met up with some friends and had a fun day! I'm a germ freak (which you may know already) so today was Caroline's first day to actually "play" in the play place. Here are some photos to sum up the play time!

Vegetarian Spicy Taco Soup

Okay my friends, for all of you doing the Daniel Fast like I am, here's a recipe to try if you're out of ideas! It's what's for dinner tonight(okay, I know I'm not Rachael Ray, but I like making up recipes anyway)!

Two cans pinto beans

One can black beans

One can red beans (also can use kidney beans)

One large can diced tomatoes

One can tomato paste

(Optional)One can chopped green chili's

One can corn

Half of One sweet onion, chopped

One raw jalapeno chopped (If you like things really spicy, you can add more. However, beware if you simmer all day in a crock pot. It can get really spicy)

One package taco seasoning (if you get the low sodium kind, it doesn't have sugar in it)

Or, you can substitute taco seasoning for the following: (all approx: I don't measure anything, just put it in my hand and throw it in ;)

- 2 tbs chili powder

- 1 1/2 tsp cumin (or cuminos)

- 1 tbs minced garlic

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix all ingredients into a pot or crock-pot. Do not drain juice out of the cans. I simmer all ingredients in a crock-pot for a few hours. You can also simmer in a pot on the stove. The longer it simmers, the better (I think).

(I usually like it topped with cheese, sour cream and chips, but you know... Daniel doesn't think that's wise :)

For all of you non-Daniel Fasters. You can start out with a pound of ground beef. Yum!

Christmas in a flash

Found the Camera on Christmas eve- it was a miracle! Here is a review of our Christmas/New Years holiday. I have more photos to upload than I have time to upload then, but this will give you an idea.

Our Christmas this year was fabulous! The kids got to meet Santa this year. I swear he was the real one! Caroline's first Christmas for Santa to visit...

Tobin was overjoyed to finally meet the real Santa!

We made our yearly tradition of Christmas cookies. I didn't think we were going to have time this year- but being snowed in on Christmas Eve made it easier for us to do the things we love to do together like... make Christmas cookies, read books, watch Christmas movies, and just enjoy each other. Mostly, we got to focus on what Christmas really is all about- the birth of our Savior!

Tobin was shocked when he woke Christmas morning! He got a Kitchen(which he plays with all day long every day- I keep thinking he'll get tired of it), and the only thing he asked for - A Slinky Dog!

Caroline got spoiled by everyone this year. Being her first Christmas , it didn't take her long to figure out how to unwrap the presents. She loves tearing paper now! Here she is playing with one of her new toys in her dress that my Grammy made her!

We experienced a real live blizzard this year! When it hit town, we were at church. It normally takes us 15 minutes to get home from church in traffic. It actually took us over an hour to get home! It was unbelievable! A white Christmas we will never forget! We got a record breaking 14.1 inches! Tobin loved making snow angels and of course, throwing snow balls!

We had a great Christmas this year! Aunt Serina made everyone these great hats!

Second cousins Kinsey and Caroline finally got to meet.

...And we said goodbye to my sweet Grandaddy, Herschel. He is now gardening with the Lord in heaven, but we will miss him so much!
Tuesday, My doctor said I was officially in Remission. I am now off all steroids- Praise the Lord! I give the Lord full credit for my healing. We are starting 2010 thanking God for our blessings. Hope your 2010 is blessed beyond measure!

Celebrate the New Year

Caroline has been getting herself into a lot of "whoops" lately! We took her to the ER Sunday night for a bump on her head. She is doing fine, but we were glad she went because we found out she had an ear infection. She is so curious all the time... getting into things she shouldn't. I have decked our house out with child locks, again... and baby gates, again. I cannot turn my back for one second. She's quick, curious, and too smart for her own good but man-o-man do we love her!

Saturday, Tony and Tobin were blessed with Tickets to the OU game! Since Tobin was born, Tony has wanted to take him to a game! Tony and I went in October and the whole time we were there Tony kept saying how awesome it would be to take Tobin. Well, someone called Friday night and said they had two extra tickets... so who went? You guessed it! I snapped some pics before they left for the game. They were so excited!

Tobin got so scared of the shotguns shooting and the fireworks and the screaming fans, that I had to pick them up early. Poor baby was crying hysterically unless they were out of the stands. He was terrified! So, we finished watching the game on the TV! That was not how Tony envisioned his first OU game with Tobin would turn out. Oh well, there's always next year!

Platelets are producing!

I just wanted to update everyone...

Today I went in for my weekly Labs. My platelet count today was 249K! I went 5mg down on the steroids this week and my platelets went up 20k! Praise God! This was the first time that I went down on the steroids, and my platelet count didn't go down. This is great news! This means my body is producing platelets again, and we are trusting God fully for healing. Keep praying for full remission!

on another note: I thought this was great! the Platelet Disorder Support Association has really helped me understand my ITP and has so many great resources of support. I thought this was funny: A stress ball that is shaped like a platelet. What's so funny about it you ask? Stress causes your platelet count to go down. Teehee! I told Santa I need one for Christmas... we will see.
